Again we will have a large booth with new display theme for this year.  But you can bet it will be related to the economy, jobs, securing our future.  Stop by to see this year's "message" and to engage in frank and friendly dialogue with some of your friends and neighbors about the best ways to keep America strong and safe for all our future generations.  And bring your kids... we have fun things in store for them, too.

Lincoln - Reagan Rally a Big Success

As reported on the front page of the Austin Daily Herald, the pavilion was packed to enjoy a tasty meal and to hear two great talks by MN State Reps.

Rep. Rich Murray (27A)  related his efforts to reach across the political divide to personally engage all points of view, especially those who differ with his about any matter before the Legislature.  He emphasized there will always be a need to take care of certain people and that Republicans are not hard hearted. But we are careful with the people's money. He also told about engaging the governor in personal conversation about resolving the budget impasse.  Mower County Republicans are extremely proud to have this man represent the southwestern corner of our county! 

The other featured speaker, double amputee Iraq Red-Bull veteran, Rep John Kriesel (57A),  recounted his experience in defending our American way of life when his Humvee hit a land mine and the many things that saved his life.  He described how he, too, makes great attempts to reach out to fully discuss the issues with anybody so he can fully represent all the people of his district.

Dennis Schminke, Mower GOP Chair and Jennifer Gumbel, Co-deputy Chair also spoke briefly.  Jennifer had met and befriended Rep Kriesel last year before the elections and she warmly introduced our speakers. Everyone was enthusiastic and many remained to engage in further conversation with our legislators and with each other.  This is a great example how Americans conduct the necessary dialogue to maintain our great country.

All agreed this is something we want to keep doing year after year.

Recap: Successful CD1 GOP Convention in Austin

For the first time in recent memory the GOP's annual convention for Minnesota's Congressional District 1 (CD1) was held in Austin at the Mower County Senior Center in April this year. All who attended the meeting had favorable words to say about the local party unit's hosting.  Even though this legislative district has a long history of mostly Democrat representation, the rest of Southern Minnesota Republicans were complimentary to the local party for their ongoing work to support sound economics and honorable social values by endorsing and supporting outstanding local candidates, Kathy Green (S27). Rich Murray (H27A) and Jennifer Gumbel (H27B) and for strong support of Randy Demmer and the whole slate of statewide candidates.
